of broken rear axles, new cars, and movies

Rewinding in time a little bit (I kind've left out some of my other news when I posted about the A-Team movie - I was just a tad excited...) with a list of events that I regard as more or less blogworthy:

- My friend Hannah had her Sweet Sixteen birthday party a couple weeks ago and it was sooooo fun. It was the first pool party I've been to in years, and although nobody I knew could make it I met some awesome crazy new people (including two girls who like country music AND one who is a staunch Team Edward supporter - Team Edward people are few and far between these days, unfortunately). And there was really good cake.
- About a week ago, we planned to go see the A-Team movie with Salty, Rose, and Gandalf, but on the way to the theater my mom starts swerving like crazy and manages to pull the van over. Flat tire? Nope. Broken rear axle. So there we were, stuck on the side of the highway on a hot, muggy day in June with a very good chance of rain at some point in the near future. But, gotta love my friends, they made it almost fun. We swapped riddles and sang random songs, and talked to the workers who were on strike nearby, they were very nice. My dad finally came to the rescue, only our other car is currently a pickup truck, so he couldn't rescue all of us at once. Luckily, Salty had left his car at our house, so he went back with mi padre to get said car. Meanwhile, the rest of us walked to the gas station across the street and got food and stuff. Needless to say we didn't make it to the movie. Rose and Salty came back to my house for a while and we just hung out instead.
- Part II to the previous news bite is this: last Saturday we spent all flippin morning at Brown Daub. About 5% of this time was spent actually choosing a car. The rest consisted of my parents ironing out the paperwork and crap like that, while my sister and I were stuck watching ESPN. For like, three hours. Fortunately they were showing FIFA World Cup footage, and soccer is one of the few sports that I actually understand, so it wasn't that bad. Still, we were glad to get out've there.
- Tomorrow Rose and I (and possibly my sister, she hasn't decided yet) are going to see Knight & Day, which looks soooo good (I don't even LIKE Tom Cruise and I think the movie looks good). There are so many movies that have either just come out or are coming out that I need to see: Toy Story 3 (NO I HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, DON'T RUB IT IN), Predators (I think it looks cool), Inception, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Last Airbender, Voyage of the Dawn Treader... (oh, Eclipse is not on this list because the first Twilight movie sucked so I've decided not to see any of the others. Doesn't help that I hate Taylor Lautner with a burning passion) PLUS DEATHLY HALLOWS PART ONE!!!! Words cannot express how psyched I am about that.... @.@

  1. Team Edward? Ha.
    Thou Shalt be Cursed Eward Cullen and Cursed thou shalt come to be!

    In the merry month of June from me home I started,
    Left the girls of Tuam nearly broken hearted,
    Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother,
    Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother,
    Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born,
    Cut a stout black thorn to banish ghosts and goblins;
    Bought a pair of brogues rattling o'er the bogs
    And fright'ning all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin.
    One, two, three four, five, Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky
    road and all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !
